Cajon and Ukulele Circle

Last week we had the privilege of hosting a cajon and ukulele circle at a local elementary school fundraiser. This was a great way to introduce kids to musical instruments that they can make music on from the moment they pick up the instrument. We used the Schlagwerk Percussion products, which are finely crafted from Germany. In particular we used the CP 404 for parents and adults, then for kids we used the CP 400 SB Star Box and the CP 401 Hip Box Jr. These made for a nice blend that both parents and kids could get involved. We also included some log drums to add some color to the blend, these were extremely popular as kids could easily make little melodies on these.

We also used the Hal Leonard ukulele kits for the kids to explore playing ukulele. These kits make it extremely easy for a beginner to start playing ukulele. They include an ukulele, a book, CD, and DVD all in one convenient kit. The kids loved picking these up and exploring how to strum and make sounds on these instruments that fit them perfectly. We had a great time, and look forward to hosting more of these exploring music sessions soon.
