Fender Player Series Explained

Player Series Strat

The  Fender Player Series consists of the Player Series Stratocaster, Player Series Telecaster, and Player Series basses. It is the 2018 update to the former Standard Series.

The Stratocasters feature maple modern "c" shape necks with either maple or pau ferro fretboards. They also have added a 22nd fret, and have changed the bridge to a 2-point tremolo system. This system has less friction which increases tuning stability. Other features include master volume and tone controls, a 5-way pickup switch, 3-ply pickguard, synthetic bone nut, dual-wing string tree, sealed tuning machines and four-bolt “F”-stamped neck plate.

The Telecasters again feature a maple modern "c" shape neck with either maple or pau ferro fretboards. The player series Telecasters add a 22nd fret, and the bridge features bent-steel saddles to the string-through-body bridge for precise intonation and to help your sound cut through the mix. Master volume and tone controls, a 3-way pickup switch with barrel tip, 3-ply pickguard, synthetic bone nut, dual-wing string tree, sealed tuning machines and four-bolt “F”-stamped neck plate.

The Player Series Precision Bass has a maple neck, modern "c" shape, and your choice of maple or pau ferro fretboards. The fat, punchy Player Series split-coil Precision Bass middle pickup is packed with legendary Fender bass tone. Master volume and tone controls are close to hand to shape the pickup’s powerful voice so you can easily craft your sound. The 4-saddle bridge is engineered for accurate intonation and easy action adjustment so you can personalize the feel to your playing style and taste. Other features include a 3-ply pickguard, synthetic bone nut, vintage-style disc string trees, open-gear tuning machines and a four-bolt “F”-stamped neck plate.

Last but not least is the Player Series Jazz Bass. Like the Precision Bass it features a maple neck, modern "c" shape, and your choice of maple or pau ferro fretboards. Dual single-coil pickups and smooth playing feel, the Player Jazz Bass is an inspiring instrument with classic, elevated style and authentic Fender bass tone. It’s powerful, rumbling sound is punchy and tight; a growling voice that’s matched with fast, smooth playing feel for a shot of creative inspiration.

The updates on the Player Series are nice additions to the Fender line up. Keeping Fender with a nice price point and great features.
